Recently we found out that Love Actually has a sequel in store for us. And the world seemed better for a while. The sequel is not a full-on movie, but we cannot wait to see the characters we love. But there are also actors who will not return, and Emma Thompson just confirmed she’s not in the sequel.
Emma Thompson’s character Karen was married to late Alan Rickman‘s character, Harry. And after the unexpected death of the actor last year, no one actually expected her to return. And this is one of the reasons why director Richard Curtis didn’t add her for the sequel.
“Richard wrote to me and said, ‘Darling, I can’t write anything for you ’cause of Alan,’ and I said, ‘No, of course, of course you can’t.’ It would be sad, too sad. It’s too soon. You know, it’s absolutely right.”
“It’s absolutely right, it’s supposed to be for Comic Relief and there isn’t much comic relief in the loss of our dear friend really only just over a year ago. … We thought and thought but it just seemed wrong.”
Most of the actors will return for the Red Nose Actually sequel, which takes form of a short film. The movie will take on 14 years later after the original. The sequel premieres on BBC One on March 24.1 of 1
