One of the biggest surprises of the Gilmore Girls revival was Tristan’s replacement. Chad Michael Murray starred in the shows’ first seasons as Rory’s annoyingly charming classmate, Tristan, but when the revival came, Chad didn’t return to the show. Now we know the reason why!
Chad will return to television with a new role on CMT’s new show, Sun Records. And in his words, he’s bringing sexy back:
“We’re bringing sexy back from the ’50s.”
In an interview with Entetainment Tonight, the former One Tree Hill discussed his upcoming role that tells the story of the rock’n’roll birth. But besides that, he took the time to mention the Gilmore Girls revival, and gave his reasons why he wasn’t in it:
“I heard [it was happening] and I wasn’t available at the time. I’m pretty positive I was having a baby – my first child. It just did not work into what we were doing at that moment, so I know that somebody went out and was Tristan, but it wasn’t me.”
“But I hear strong work, good job, man! You know, Tristan’s secret was be that guy that every girl wants to be next to, but just isn’t sure they should be and I heard he did it well.”
Despite the fact that his role was of a typical bad-guy bully, he did it gracefully. And he’s a big loss for the Netflix revival. But we’ll definitely have more of him rocking 50s suits in Sun Records. The show premieres tonight at 10 p.m. ET/PT on CMT.1 of 1
