We get to watch as the designers on Project Runway Junior 2017 head home and start working on their final collections, as Tim Gunn comes to visit them for his critiques! Then it is off to Los Angeles for the big show on Project Runway Junior Season 2, but first we have to see if Tieler or Hawwaa will be showing in that final runway show! Check it out with us during our Project Runway Junior 2017 Live Recap and see who got eliminated on Project Runway Junior 2017 tonight!
Last week on Project Runway Junior Season 2, it was the challenge to determine who would be making it to the finale and only four of them would be moving on, which meant a double elimination! The designers each were assigned some street art to use as their inspiration. From there, they had to create a high-end look that the model would pose for a photo with the street art. Chelsea made a horrendous look and the judges loved it, so she won. Izzy and Chris also made it to the finale. Molly made a pretty dark and boring look, especially compared to the other patterns and she was eliminated. The judges couldn’t decide between Tieler (boring look and fit issues again) or Hawwaa (they liked the look, but not high-end) going home. So, both get to make a final collection, show the judges tonight and one stays and one goes home!
Follow along with tonight’s live recap below, as the designers take on a new challenge!

Tim Gunn and Hannah Jeter meet the designers on the runway. For this final challenge, they will create a six-piece spring collection with a $4,000 budget. They will head home five weeks to complete the looks and when they come back, Tieler and Hawwaa will show a preview to the judges and they will decide which one shows in the finale, which will take place at FIDM in Los Angeles!
The designers pack up their things and head home. It seems like none of them have made a collection before, so the pressure is on. The designers got their own camera to track their own progress. We check those out and then it is finale time and the designers are in Los Angeles and Tim now checks in with them and their families!
Tim sits down with her and her family on Project Runway Junior 2017. Their family seems to like her collection. Her sister said that she would wear some of the pieces and how it is colorful.
Tim meets Chris and his mother. She said she loves his collection and his work is like artwork and you have to stare at it for a while before it all sinks in. Chris said he did not have a lot of experience creating for others, so he did not expect to make the finale.
So, she said she started her collection a week ago! Five weeks to complete it and she starts a week ago. Apparently she has a lot of looks to finish, but her parents said this is how she always is.
She is with her dad and sister and Tim talks about how Hawwaa has ben so mature beyond her years this season. Oh, did we forget how she acted when partnered with A’Kai? Tim asks if it has strained any relationships having to compete against Tieler and she said no.
Tim meets Tieler and his moms. Apparently it was raining non-stop at his home and it made the roof cave in and it was where his collection was! Thankfully it was saved and he said he has been doing a ton of sewing and one look has like 1,000 flowers on it!
We are in the workroom now and the designers are taking out their collections and Hawwaa and Tieler are worried with what the other one has done. They actually both have oxford shoes, which is crazy. Hawwaa seems to have 100 pieces for her six pieces. Tim comes in and he said Tieler and Hawwaa will show the judges two pieces.
For Hawwaa, he said it is interesting to see what she can achieve when she has more time. She has a jacket and Tim said the pieces underneath are throwaways and the jacket is not aligned perfectly, but thinks it is meant to be that way. He said her jacket looks boudoir look to it, which nothing else has that feel to it.
For Tieler, he has a lot of flowers on everything and I am not a huge fan of the color choices. It seems old woman to me. Tim said none of this, including the color, would take him to Van Gogh. He said he has great respect for the collection, but be careful how he presents it to the judges. The embroidery is basic shapes. Tieler said he disagrees and it screams Van Gogh. He disagrees with what pieces Tieler wants to show the judges.
The models come in for their fittings on Project Runway Junior 2017. Tieler chooses the two pieces based on what Tim said. They seem to pick their looks and then put some finishing touches on things, as the day comes to an end!
The models are getting their hair and makeup done, as Hawwaa and Tieler are backstage getting their looks ready and pressed. They will have 30 minutes to dress them when they arrive. Hawwaa seems to have threads sticking out, can’t get the model’s foot into the pants and the shoes don’t fit! Everyone is all set and time to head to the runway!
Time for Tieler and Hawwaa to show their looks to the judges: Hannah Jeter, Christian Siriano, Kelly Osbourne and Aya Kinai. Here we go:
- Tieler – I love the jacket and dress together and the colors work. I am loving the pants on the second look and they look polished.
- Hawwaa – The jumpsuit is nice and over-the-top with those patterns on the back. The second look is crazy and seems like a runway look to me.
Time for some feedback from the judges before they make their final decision on Project Runway Junior 2017:
- Hawwaa – Aya said she did a great job and this is an excellent teaser. Likes how she commits to a bold color story. Kelly said she would wear the jumpsuit and sees the circus vibe. She needs more of an editing eye. Hannah said she got the circus vibe and not as costumey as they have seen in the past. It is fun, but not sophisticated. Christian said the clothes felt more real and lived in. What she showed today was really smart. The looks feel layered and rich, but not everyone is going to love these clothes.
- Tieler – Aya said it is so different from what they have seen from him all season. It is more conservative and has a Southern feel to it. He is the kind of designer that can pull off anything. Kelly said the structure is fighting the fluidity on the first look. He left more to the imagination here and something she appreciates. Christian said these shapes are quite simple and did not push it the way he thought he would. He was excited to see more structure. Hannah said she likes the embroidery and something endearing and cute to the Southern. She loves the bumblebees and thinks it should be in everything for them to look for.
The judges discuss both the looks and designers. I am thinking they will keep Hawwaa and send Tieler home. He just did not bring it tonight, which makes me sad. What do you think?
The designers are back on the runway and the judges have decided to send Hawwaa to the finale next week, which means that Tieler has been eliminated tonight! I thought he was going to win, but these last few weeks have been rough for him and it was the right choice tonight! So, we will see collections from Izzy, Chris, Hawwaa and Chelsea next week.
