Hannah Horvath goes to the Hamptons in the Girls season 6 premiere. For a refresher on where the show left off, read my recap of the season 5 finale.
The Girls season 6 premiere opens with a montage showing Hannah’s success with writing. She gets an article published in The New York Times, about what it was like losing her friendship with Jessa Johansson because of Adam Sackler. In turn, we see each of the other characters reacting to the article. When Adam asks Jessa if she wants to read it, she says no. Marnie Michaels beams with pride as she reads the article on the toilet. Shoshanna Shapiro reads the article while drinking tea and says to herself, “That’s not very ladylike.”
Hannah arrives at the Hamptons to research an article on surf camp. When she checks in, she overhears a woman who gets emotional as she tries to find a way to get in contact with one of the instructors.
Ray Ploshansky tries to move back into his apartment with Adam. As soon as he walks in, he sees Jessa fully naked and Adam wearing only his underwear.
Hannah goes to the camp nurse in order to get out of surf classes. After she begs the nurse to give her an excuse to not go back to class, she finally admits that she’s completely fine.
Hannah wakes up with her surf instructor Paul-Louis (guest star Riz Ahmed) after spending the night with him. He finds out that she hates the beach, so he offers to take her on a tour.
Later, after another hook up with Paul-Louis, Hannah tells him that she’s thinking of extending her say. He’s excited about the idea, then casually mentions his girlfriend. Hannah is upset at this new information.
At the end of the episode, Hannah sits at a campfire with Paul-Louis. She tries to have fun, but it’s clearly still bothering her that Paul-Louis has a girlfriend.
