Girlfriends’ Guide to Divorce season 3 continues with “Rule #99: Cook Naked”, as Abby and the coach heat things up, Barb may get her own little fling.
This week kicks off with Abby and the coach doing the horizontal mambo on the couch, but as per usual they stop before they can get to anything below the belt. Frustrating, but good writing inspiration. This hot and bothered state is doing wonders for Abby’s book and she’s writing up a storm. She’s writing smut, hot smut that she is probably hoping to do “for research” with the coach.
Of course, a girl can only stay hot and bothered for so long before needing the itch scratched so she throws a party for the whole baseball team to rub elbows with the coach. Thinking she’d be able to stay safe and get more writing material, but things get heated and heavy and they end up on a washing machine… yet again. Only this time, they do get interrupted by none other than Linda, Nadia Dajani. She eventually agrees to keep things hush hush but lets it slip that the coach is still living with his ex, for the kids. What’s Abby doing? She’s confused and doesn’t know what to do now.
Meanwhile, Delia is dealing with the fact that she’s gotten two DUIs in the state of California throughout her life and that could mean jail time. She’s still in hot water at the firm so she resorts to an “infant attorney” a 25 year old to take on the case. Her attorney prefers texting over calls, typical millennial, and eventually comes up with 120 hours of community service. Delia isn’t cool with that. But that doesn’t stop her from helping Abby host her little baseball soiree and getting a first hand look at the coach.
Phoebe is courting Gemma. No really, she’s friends now or whatever but they seem to do everything together. The other girls are starting to see she’s obsessed. She’s always talking about her and now she’s blowing off JD to have dinner with Gemma in the back of a Jeep. Granted, a low key day with a friend is needed sometimes but there’s something stirring there. Stay tuned to see what happens.
Phoebe does get away from Gemma long enough to introduce Barb to her kitchen guy. Barb is in need of a new stove top. She cooks a lot. She has a son and the only time she gets to bond is over food. So she needs something to help with that. On a budget, of course. The kitchen guy and Barb seem to butt heads at first but eventually find a good compromise. One that includes a drink date in the near future. Barb may have found her own fling! Or more. Who knows.
JoJo is dealing with Frumpkis helping out around the bakery, all the while keep her paranoia at bay. In addition, she notices her little girl has developed a crush on her baker. It’s sweet. It’s innocent. Zoey is awkward but Jo can relate. She’s been there. She offers her daughter some advice, be bold. Zoey takes that to mean be bold with Lily and let her know he’s off limits. Abby and Jo’s kids going after the same guy can not be a good thing.
Frumpkis is busy attempting to make the business boom during the afternoon slump. His idea AA meetings, but when they are happening he decides not to join. Jo and Frump get into a fight and he storms out. He comes back looking awful and later passes out from too much drinking. He needs his stomach pumped and the whole situation turns very traumatic for Zoey and Jo, who lets him know she’s not going anywhere and she’s going to make sure he gets help.
- Jo referring to the baseball moms as “uppity buttwipes” after Abby complains of their cliche
- Abby is a Kale hoarder
- Barbara saying “you got jokes” … scripted or Retta improv?
- Fries and milkshakes are heaven
- The costume choices are killing it as always.
