Tonight’s episode of Chicago Fire season 5 started off with Dawson and Casey walking home after shift planning a movie night at home. They stop at the grocery store for a few things when the guy who was trapped in the fire from last week shows up and sees Dawson. He asks her what is the best thing to put on a burn and then shows her a burn on his arm, He then asks her if she is from 51 and then asks her if she feels good about being able to choose who lives and who dies.
Later, Dawson and Brett get a call about a man down and they get to the location, which happens to be the location of the fire from last week. When they get there, a woman runs out and tells them that she found her landlord in the basement and when they get down there he is lying on the floor with what looks like two gun shot wounds. He’s dead.
Halstead and the rest of the CPD are helping with locating the man that is holding this grudge against firehouse 51. They find out that the man and the landlord both did time in the same prison and that’s probably how they met. Meanwhile, Brett does a favor for Antonio by picking Diego up from his moms and hanging out with him until Antonio gets out of work. Laura, Antonio’s ex-wife, shows up and she is pissed about Brett having her son.
After Diego leave Brett goes to find Dawson to talk to her and ask her if what she offered to do came too soon in their relationship and Dawson tells her she doesn’t want to get in the middle of it. Brett insists and Dawson just gives her a look implying that it was too soon.
OFI shows up with the evidence from the fire that they are hoping will shed some light on the location of the guy from the fire, Eddie. The woman from earlier that called when the landlord was found shows up and tells Dawson that she lied earlier about not knowing where Eddie was because she was afraid he was going to hurt her or her daughter. She tells Dawson that he was in the house earlier that day when she got there and he was all amped up and threatened to make 51 pay for what they did to him.
They get a call and before they leave Dawson tells Boden what she just found out. Boden wants to take 51 out of business until they find Eddie because he thinks this call is a trap. The team thinks that if he does that another firehouse is going to walk right into and they would be put into danger. They decide to go anyways. Come to find out the call was a couple teenagers trying to loot copper pipes out of an abandon house.
When they get back to the firehouse, Antonio is there and Brett and him have a bit of an argument about Laura coming in and taking her issues with Antonio out on Brett. It ends with Brett breaking up with Antonio and telling him that he is clearly not ready for a relationship.
Halstead comes by to tell them that the pharmacy on the pill bottle in the evidence box is going to help them out by getting him to come in because of an “issue with his refill.” Later they get a call that Eddie has walking into an urgent care center and the CPD has picked him up. Moments later they get a call about a fire, but when they get to the building all they find is a bunch of smoke and a couple of barrels burning and while they are inside. Halstead calls. It wasn’t Eddie that they picked up, it was a crackhead that Eddie paid off to pose as him.
Meanwhile, Severide finds a couple of fertilizer bombs that could take out an entire city block. Mouch and Boden are told by an old friend of Severide’s dad that the only thing they can do is disrupt the mixture inside to stop them from exploding. Casey and Kidd have found Eddie inside the building and he is shooting at them both. Casey sets up a diversion and is able to tackle Eddie, but Eddie pulls out an activation switch for the bomb. Before he is able to hit the button, Casey hits him and knocks him out.
After shift, Brett, Dawson and Casey are all having dinner when Severide walks in and tells them that they are all going to Molly’s. Brett tells them that she will meet them there and on her way out of the apartment, Antonio is standing outside her door. He tells her that he is sorry for making things so hard. He tells her that the truth is she deserves better than what he can give her. His new job isn’t going to give him the time to put her first and she deserves to be put first. She tells him that maybe when things settle with his job settles they can try again because they were really good together.
When they walk into Molly’s Dawson and Casey are surprised with a wedding reception and the ring that Casey has been carrying around for weeks has been placed on top of a cake. Thanks to Severide who was able to get the ring from Casey earlier in the episode. Severide is sitting with his dad’s friend who is there for a reason that he hasn’t let onto. He tells Severide that there is a battalion chief position opening up in Springfield and he wants to mold Severide to take over for him someday. Springfield is also where Anna lives and works! What will he do??
