In case you’ve been living under a rock and aren’t aware of this, Andrew Garfield and Ryan Reynolds kissed during the Golden Globes just after Ryan Gosling‘s name was announced as winner for Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role – Comedy/Musical at the show. Now, the Hacksaw Ridge actor shared during The Norton Graham Show that it was his idea to kiss Ryan!
Obviously the first thought I had when I saw Ryan and Andrew kiss was that Spideypool is totally canon (as Reynolds plays Deadpool and Garfield was Spiderman), but the truth is not related to that. As both Andrew and Ryan were nominated for Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role for Hacksaw Ridge and Deadpool, Andrew told us what really happened in that moment:
“It was a ridiculous thing. I said to Ryan Reynolds, ‘If you win, kiss me instead of your wife [Blake Lively].’ And he said, ‘Yeah, that’s great.’ And the plan was that he would kind of move towards his wife, and then kind of last minute lean in to it. And then he didn’t win, much to our disappointment, so I said to Ryan, ‘We can still just do it if we want.’ And he was game.”
