Didn’t Oprah Winfrey retire? That does not seem to be the case, as Oprah has been busier than ever lately and that will continue, as Oprah Winfrey will join 60 Minutes as a contributor this fall! Yes, the Queen of Media is adding her skills to the long-running CBS news program. How long before she takes that over too?
60 Minutes executive producer Jeff Fager said in a statement: “There is only one Oprah Winfrey. She has achieved excellence in everything she has touched. Her body of work is extraordinary, including thousands of interviews with people from all walks of life. She is a remarkable and talented woman with a level of integrity that sets her apart and makes her a perfect fit for 60 Minutes. I am thrilled that she will be bringing her unique and powerful voice to our broadcast.”
Oprah, who started out as a reporter in the business, seems to be happy with the new gig: “I’ve been a big admirer of 60 Minutes since my days as a young reporter. I’m so excited and proud to join forces with this historic news program, which for me represents the bastion of journalistic storytelling. At a time when people are so divided, my intention is to bring relevant insight and perspective, to look at what separates us, and help facilitate real conversations between people from different backgrounds.”
Besides 60 Minutes, Oprah is also the chairman and CEO of OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network, she continues to acts, owns O: The Oprah Magazine and serves on the board of directors for Weight Watchers, which she also stars in their commercials! Yeah, she ain’t ever quitting and that is fine by me!
