Selena Gomez has been taking a break from the music industry, but that does not mean she has been taking a break from working! It looks like Selena has been busy working on her passion project: a 13 Reasons Why adaptation for Netflix and she gave us the first teaser of the project below!
For the Netflix project, Gomez is serving as an executive producer. The series is based on Jay Asher’s best-selling book of the same name. 13 Reasons Why is about a teenage girl who commits suicide and leaves behind 13 cassette tapes explaining the reasons why she did it. For the tapes, each one focuses on a different person and the effect they had on her life.
For the 13 Reasons Why teaser, we see glimpses of these 13 people with text that reads “They all killed her.” This is some intense stuff, but we also have to remember that suicide is a complicated thing and there are usually multiple factors that influence someone in doing it.
13 Reasons Why stars featuring Empire‘s Derek Luke and Private Practice’s Kate Walsh and Spotlight director Tom McCarthy also serves as an executive producer. 13 Reasons Why is available for streaming on Netflix beginning March 31. Here is the teaser video that Selena Gomez shared:
