Elizabeth Keen infiltrates an elite gang of female thieves as they prepare for their next heist on The Blacklist season 4 episode 11. For a refresher on what happened last week, read my recap of episode 10.
The Blacklist season 4 episode 11 opens with the group known as The Harem pulling off a heist. They all meet up in a warehouse and we see that they smuggled jewels in their car.
Raymond Reddington meets up with a man named Zack Small. He asks him for cash funds for a business opportunity. He introduces Zack to Liz, who advises them not to commit any crimes while she’s there. Red tells them that The Harem plans to steal a list of everyone in the witness protection program, putting them all at risk. He suggests that the only way to catch them in the act is for Liz to go undercover.
Liz meets up with Margot Rochet, the leader of The Harem. She tells her that she wants to join the group and that her specialty is reading people in order to get them to do whatever she wants.
Margot and Liz talk to Craig, an associate of Red’s who vouches for Liz’s thief credentials, in exchange for a deal with the FBI. Margot knows Craig made a deal with the FBI, so she tells Liz to shoot him. Liz refuses to do it, saying that what Margot should care about is loyalty and Liz wouldn’t shoot a man she works with.
After a night of celebration with The Harem now that she’s a member, Liz talks to Emma Knightley, another member. Emma tells her that she was a “chatty” drunk, which alarms Liz.
Harold Cooper tells Red that Keen’s gone dark, despite the fact that she was supposed to reach out on day one. Red says that Liz will reach out “but only after she’s earned their trust.”
Liz finds out that Red knows Emma. She meets up with him and asks why he’d send her in if he already had contact with Emma. He tells her that Emma went dark on him.
Margot sends Liz and Emma on a mission together. While they’re driving, Emma tells Liz that she knows working for Reddington is hard. She adds, “Don’t worry. The others don’t know.”
Liz goes out drinking with The Harem. When she goes to the bathroom, Margot finds her and tries to kiss her. When Liz pushes her away, Margot says, “It’s about loyalty, remember?” She tells her, “You’re either in or you’re out. So, what’s it gonna be?” Liz starts to kiss her, but Emma enters and asks if she’s interrupting. When Margot tells her it doesn’t concern her, Emma asks, “It doesn’t?” She goes into a stall with Margot and tells her to run along.
The next day, the group goes over their plan for the heist. Liz and Emma wait at a bar for the plan to go into motion. Liz thanks Emma for protecting her the night before.
The operation goes south. Emma gets the list and a Harem member named Jessica is shot. Liz tries to plan an exit strategy with Margot, but Margot stops responding to her. When a Hong Kong police officer arrives, Liz holds a gun to him and says, “I’m gonna need your security badge and your gun.”
Liz calls the task force and tells them that Emma took the list. She says that Emma “has nowhere to go” but that gives her an idea– Emma is back in the town she’s from, where she left her son.
At the end of the episode, Red returns to his accountants. He finds out that Zack Small has died and that the money he was supposed to transfer could be anywhere. Red tells Dembe that Zack having a heart attack is unlikely and this is someone trying to start a war with him.
