The mummified corpse of an infamous music producers is discovered on a yacht in Rosewood season 2 episode 11. For a refresher on what happened last week, read my recap of episode 10.
Rosewood season 2 episode 11 opens on a music video. Selena Monae, the pop star in the video fights with her producer, Jeff Rodriguez. He grabs her and says, “Listen to me, you little bitch.”
Two weeks later, Rosewood’s team arrives at the scene when Jeff’s body is fine. Ira Hornstock and Annalise Villa wonder why just the team showed up, not Rosewood himself. Mitchie Mendelson tries to assure them that they won’t even notice the difference.
Joo Joo calls Villa to pick up Rosewood. When she finds him, he’s clearly been partying all night and still seems intoxicated. She tells Joo Joo to make sure he showers before going out in public.
Back at the lab, they examine Jeff’s body, which has been mummified in a short period of time through a perfect storm of circumstances. First they have to confirm that the body is actually Jeff, since it’s beyond being recognizable.
Rosewood, TMI and Pippy Rosewood are working on examining the body when they see a news report. The police are surrounding the house of Little V, a producer who hated Jeff.
Little V FaceTimes the police and says, “I ain’t leaving the crib until my lawyers get here.” Rosewood approaches Little V’s house and claims that he’s a lawyer in order to gain entry.
Rosewood goes out to a bar. When Joo Joo shows up, Rosewood accuses him of only using him to mooch off of. After Joo Joo leaves, Rosewood finds out from the bartender that Joo Joo has been paying his tab for him.
At the lab, Rosewood pays Pippy for the past two weeks. She notices that it’s in cash and asks where he got the money, but he doesn’t answer. She decides not to press the issue and turns to lab results for Jeff’s yacht.
Rosewood calls Kayla, the daughter of Tawnya, the woman who robbed him. She finds Rosewood and tells him that she’s glad he called. She says, “My name’s not really Kayla and everything you know about me is a lie.”
She says that her real name is Yonce McGill, she’s twenty-two and she’s not Tawnya’s daughter. She tells him, “You were just my next path to a warm bed, a decent meal and not having to sell myself to a stranger.” She tells him that she walked away from Tawnya and didn’t receive any of his money. Rosewood tells Hornstock, “Book her.”
Rosewood and Villa return to the dock where Jeff’s body was dragged. Rosewood finds taser confetti on the ground, which is traceable to the gun that fired it.
Villa and Rosewood bring in Jeff’s childhood friend Jamil. They tell him that they found the taser gun used in the crime in his apartment. They tell him that they’ve realized Jamil was in love with him, but Jeff was in love with someone else.
At the end of the episode, Rosewood gets back his car, which he sold in order to get cash to pay his employees. He and Villa drive off to the beach in the car and scream to let out their feelings.
