Manning and Clarke had a conversation outside right before she check on her patient and he made a confession to her on why Jeff, Manning’s late husband, didn’t want Clarke to come around anymore. When Clarke’s marriage started falling apart, Manning, Jeff and Clarke all went out for drinks and while Manning was at the bar getting another round, he made a comment to Jeff about how he wished that Manning was his wife and Lisa (Clarke’s ex) was Jeff’s wife.
