With Netflix wanting to take over the world, it looks like Hulu is coming up with a new plan of attack with their live TV streaming service and they just added a big client, as CBS has inked a deal with Hulu! Yes, when the live TV streaming service becomes available on Hulu, you will be able to watch your favorite CBS Television Network shows, like The Big Bang Theory or Homeland! Get the Hulu and CBS deal details below!
To be honest, I am a little shocked by this one. CBS has their All Access service and seems to be promoting that big time, so why not add this live TV service to that? They seemed to be excited about this new deal though, as CBS President of Television Networks Distribution Ray Hopkins said in a statement: “We are very pleased to make CBS available on Hulu’s new live TV service. Hulu has made it clear that it understands the value that the CBS Television Network, along with Showtime and our basic cable network portfolio, will bring to this new offering.”
CBS is not the first network to be added into the live TV streaming service, as it added Walt Disney-owned and 21st Century Fox-owned networks back in November. They also added Turner channels back in April. Hulu is slowly adding the networks into the live TV streaming service, which they should be debuting in the next few months.
Hulu CEO Mike Hopkins added in a statement: “To build a successful live TV service, you have to have viewers’ favorite sports and shows — and CBS’ programming is absolutely vital to that mix. With 21st Century Fox, Disney, Turner and now CBS on board, our new live service will offer one of the most valuable sports, news and entertainment lineups anywhere — from ESPN, Fox Sports, CBS Sports and TNT to ABC, CBS, FOX and The Disney Channel.”
