Last night, the finalists competed in two rounds: the redemption round and the freestyle round. Laurie & Val’s performed a whimsical, childlike and playground-themed dance, while Calvin & Lindsay performed to a fun mashup of “Please Mr. Postman” by The Marvelettes and “I Want You Back” by Jackson 5. James & Sharna gave a powerful performance encapsulating James’ journey after his near-death experience during his IndyCar racing days. All three earned of those couple perfect scores, while the couple who went home, Jana Kramer & Gleb Savchenko, also delivered a beautiful dance. Ultimately, though, it wasn’t enough to earn them a spot in the final 3. Be sure to follow along during tonight’s live recap of the DWTS Season 23 finale!

A festive performance welcoming back all the couples from this past season kicks off the DWTS Season 23 finale.
We see a recap of last night’s performances. Later, we’ll see the final 3 couples compete one last time in the 24-hour fusion challenge.
James & Sharna perform an encore of one of their best dances of the season, the Cirque du Soleil-inspired quickstep. Love it!
We get a look back at the start of the season, starting of course with the first night of competition, to week two’s TV night, to week three’s face-off challenge.
Former DWTS competitor Andy Grammer takes the stage to perform his song, “Fresh Eyes,” while his former pro partner, Allison Holker, dances with fellow pro, Keo Motsepe.
Next, an encore performance of Calvin & Lindsay’s argentine tango from Latin Night.
Maureen McCormick & Artem Chigvintsev perform their waltz to “(You Make Me Feel Like) a Natural Woman.” Keo, Babyface and Ryan Lochte also join the performance.
Maks Chmerkovskiy performs with some of the female pros of DWTS, including Jenna Johnson and Emma Slater.
Laurie, Val & Maks perform an encore of their awesome trio dance.
Vanilla Ice performs his hit, “Ice Ice Baby” while his pro partner, Witney Carson, dances with fellow pros, including Emma Slater along with her star partner this season, Rick Perry.
Felica Bargman sings “Grown-Up Christmas List,” followed by Babyface singing “Winter Wonderland.”
The male dance pros perform to Bruno Mars‘ new song, “24K Magic.”

Jana & Gleb perform an encore of their super sexy argentine tango from Latin Night.

It’s now time for the fusion challenge. First up is James & Sharna with a Vienesse Waltz/Foxtrot. Len congratulates them on making the final. He’s a terrific dancer. He loves the chemistry between them. He wishes he could dance like him. Julianne said she wishes she could dance with him. She has a love/hate relationship with the 24-hour dance challenge. He proved that he deserves to be in the finale. The dance captured their friendship and showed how special their bond is. Bruno said what a class act this is. An artist of great versatility, constantly inspiring. He’s so in tune with Sharna. It’s absolutely beautiful to see what they create night after night. Carrie Ann said she’s never seen three more worthy finalists. Perfect choice for the fusion dance. When he dances, he transports them into a world where all men can lead. It was beautiful. Unsurprisingly, it’s 10s all around from the judges, giving them a 40/40!
Next, Calvin & Lindsay perform a Jive/Quickstep fusion. Julianne said that was the perfect fusion dance. It’s been such a joy to watch him. There aren’t enough rhinestones in this world that shine as bright as he does. Bruno said it was like a delicious, high-spiriting cocktail. Above it all is the charm with which he presents it. Carrie Ann said he has this X factor. He makes the world a better place when he dances. Len said watching him makes him feel good. It’s like chicken soup to the eyes. It’s a joyful experience. He’s great. They, too, get 10s all around from the judges, earning them a perfect 40/40!
Last up is Laurie & Val performing a Foxtrot/Argentine Tango. Bruno said it was spectacular, filled with power and technique. She had it right on the money. Carrie Ann said she’s given them spectacular dance after spectacular dance, and that was her best dance ever. Len said the performance was absolutely knockout. Julianne said she’s nervous because it’s anybody’s game. Everyone nailed it and she is no expectation. She came out and finished it with a bang. 10s all around for another perfect score of 40/40!

It’s time for the results. The couple in third place is…Calvin & Lindsay. It’s down to James & Sharna and Laurie & Val.

Laurie said she’s thankful for the support. Her goal is to inspire others on her journey. Val said to all the kids out there, don’t wait to grow up to change the future.
