Adalius Thomas Released from New England Patriots

The New England Patriots have released linebacker Adalius Thomas only three years into his five-year contract. Adalius Thomas was the highest-priced free-agent signed to the Patriots in team history. Apparently, however, Thomas and the Patriots just couldn’t seem to make it click.

According to ESPN.com, Adalius Thomas was released from the New England Patriots on Monday. Thomas is now free to play for whatever team will take him and allegedly would be most interested in signing with the New York Jets. Thomas played under Jets coach Rex Ryan when he was on the Baltimore Ravens and Ryan was defensive coordinator for that team.

Thomas told 98.5′s The Sports Hub in February that he wanted to play “somewhere where I’m wanted and where I’m going to have fun. That’s where I want to be.” He said his last season with the Patriots was “definitely a frustrating year as that goes.”

We’ll be interested in seeing if Thomas gets picked up by the Jets – and if he can manage to find chemistry with them when he obviously couldn’t with the Patriots.
