If you missed last week’s episode of Married at First Sight season 4, check out my Married at First Sight 2016 recap right here to get all caught up! Tonight’s episode of Married at First Sight season 4 started off with Sonia being woken up by Nick’s dogs and Sonia getting out of bed to shower almost instantly. She is obviously still not adjusted to the dogs. Sonia and Nick have decided that they are going to have breakfast together, even though neither of them are breakfast people. Nick isn’t too good at cooking eggs, he burns the first eggs to the pan.
We also get a look at Dr. Pepper Schwartz visiting with Heather to find out why she chose to leave the marriage with Derek. Dr. Schwartz tells her that she thinks it would be a good idea for Heather to write Derek an empathetic letter of appreciation, she thinks it could go a long way for both of them. Later, she goes by to see Derek to talk to him about how he is doing and find out from him what the first signs of her unhappiness were. She also tells Derek to write Heather a letter of appreciation as well.
Meanwhile, Lillian is trying to plan a birthday party for Tom and she calls Tom’s brother for some help and to find out if he could come down for the party as a surprise to Tom. He says he will and tells her that he will also help her plan it due to her not really knowing anything about Tom at this point. Later, Lillian is cleaning the house and trying to recruit some help from Tom and he is questioning why it has to be done right now.
For his birthday, Lillian makes Tom breakfast and lies to him about having to work later, she is really going to go pick up his brother to surprise Tom for his birthday. She goes to get him and brings him back to the house and Tom is so excited that his brother, Jeremy, is there for his birthday. Tom can’t tell us enough how happy he is that Lillian went above and beyond for his birthday.
Sonia has decided to get a dog trainer to come by the house and help her overcome her fear of the dogs. She is able to give Sonia some tips on how to bond with the dogs and shows her how to properly walk the dogs and care for them. It also helps the dogs begin to trust her and get used to her being in the house and a part of the family now. Later we watch as Sonia and Nick start doing some work in the yard together.
Later when they are eating dinner, Sonia is trying to have a conversation with Nick, but he is still very hesitant about opening up because the last couple times he has tried to talk to her, an argument ensued. The next day, Sonia is sitting on the couch with the dogs and she is really getting comfortable with them. She is a little frustrated with him and he is frustrated with her as well, but neither of them will talk to the other about what’s going on. She goes to talk to her best friend about what’s going on and she tells Sonia that she needs to communicate with him better.
Later, we see as Derek breaks the news to his mother that him and Heather are getting divorced and she tells him that she is at a lost for words, but she is going to support him through this. Meanwhile, back at Tom and Lillian’s, she is having some of her friends and family over to celebrate his birthday too. She wants him to know that her family is his family now too. Nick is having a cocktail and Sonia is trying to figure out how to put her feelings into words.
Nick tells us that his level of attraction to Sonia is dwindling because of the constant couple of arguments they have had and how she has handled them by walking away. He doesn’t want this to be an ongoing thing, he wants to work things out with her without her walking away when he says something she doesn’t like. The conversation gets a little heated between them and she tells him that they are two completely different people and before she can finish her thought, he says “exactly, maybe they matched us completely wrong.” You can tell that comment stung a bit.
We end the episode off with Sonia and Nick trying to have a civilized conversation, but Nick is getting really defensive when she asks him to open up. He gets so aggravated with the conversation that he tells her that he is completely over it and walks away and goes to bed. She tells him that he is going to do what he hates the most about her and he tells her that now she knows how it feels.
The producer tells him that all relationships require work and he tells the producer that you have to be attracted to the person for their to be a relationship. He tells us that he isn’t attracted to her at all. Sonia packs her bags and leaves, she tells us she is going back home and takes off her wedding ring as soon as she gets into her car. The dogs are not happy about her leaving, they are both barking at the windows as she pulls out of the driveway.
Lillian and Tom are having a great time at Tom’s birthday party and he can’t tell us enough how happy he is with her and where things are heading.
