The queens act in drag sequels to RuPaul Charles‘ favorite movies in RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars 2016 week 4. For a refresher on what happened last week, read my recap of episode 3.
RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars 2016 week 4 opens with the other queens telling Alyssa Edwards that they were surprised she eliminated Ginger Minj when Katya got harsher critiques.
The next week in the workshop, Phi Phi O’Hara brings this up again, saying that Alyssa switched it up. Alyssa insists that she didn’t switch up anything.
RuPaul arrives and tells them they’ll be acting in “Drag Shequels.” She also says they need to pick their partners. Roxxxy Andrews and Phi Phi will star in Showsquirrels, Detox and Katya will star in Thelma & Weezy and Alaska and Alyssa will star in Wha’ Ha’ Happened to Baby JJ?
Roxxxy and Phi Phi immediately decide the obvious choice would be to make Phi Phi the little pageant girl. But, Phi Phi convinces Roxxxy to switch the roles, saying that taking risks will pay off.
During their shoot, Roxxxy keeps saying the word “sha” and Michelle Visage has to explain to her that the word is “sash.”
RuPaul talks to the judges Michelle, Carson Kressley, Todrick Hall and guest judge Nicole Scherzinger. She introduces the runway theme, which is “two looks in one.”
Alyssa’s outfit, a dress covered in flashing cameras, seems to get the biggest response from the judges. After the runway show, they air the parody films.
Carson tells Phi Phi that her runway looks weren’t great, but the way it converted was brilliant. Michelle and Todrick tell her that her parody performance was great. Nicole tells Roxxxy that her outfit was creative and beautiful. Michelle and Todrick tell her that she didn’t keep up with Phi Phi in her performance. Todrick says that the scene with Katya and Detox was his favorite of the three, Carson adds that they worked well off of each other. Carson tells Detox that the transition in her two looks wasn’t amazing, but the end result was great. Todrick tells Alyssa the reveal of her look wasn’t great, but the look was great. Carson agrees, but Michelle says that Alyssa shouldn’t get a pass on little details just because she’s funny. Michelle tells Alaska her runway was brilliant. Nicole tells her that her performance was like “the Dustin Hoffman of queens.”
RuPaul declares Phi Phi and Alaska the top two. She declares Detox safe. Roxxxy, Katya and Alyssa are in the bottom three.
The queens sit and talk about the decision. Alyssa points out that she’s the only person in the bottom three who hasn’t been in the bottom twice, so she shouldn’t go home based on one challenge. Roxxxy says that Alyssa got the harshest critiques of the three of them.
Phi Phi says that she knows the queen she’s selected isn’t going to take it well. Alaska says it’s hard to contemplate losing a friend, but she hopes she’s made the right decision.
The song for the lip sync is “Got to be Real” by Cheryl Lynn. RuPaul decides that Alaska is the winner of the lip sync. Alaska eliminates Alyssa. She gets emotional and tells Alyssa, “I’m so sorry.”
Alyssa says, “Winning isn’t everything, but wanting to is.” She’s interrupted by a message from RuPaul telling her, “It ain’t over.”
After the elimination, Alaska tells the others how badly she feels. Phi Phi tells them that she’d also selected Alyssa. Phi Phi then rants about how sick she is of the judges letting Alyssa slide. After a moment, it’s revealed that Alyssa and all the other eliminated contestants are standing behind the mirror watching them.
