Zayn Malik is taking his knowledge of being a member of One Direction and turning it into a television show, as Zayn is working with Dick Wolf to create a boy band drama for NBC! Yes, a boy band TV show could be coming to NBC called Boys and Zayn Malik is serving as one of the executive producers. Did you ever think you would hear those words?
Boys is in development at NBC and will see Malik as an executive producer alongside Dick Wolf (Law & Order and Chicago Fire) and his wife Noelle. They have also gathered up Sherri Cooper Landsman and Jennifer Levin, who are the co-creators of Beauty and the Beast on The CW. They will serve as writers for Boys.
In a press release, Malik said: “Dick Wolf is a legend and the opportunity to work with him and NBC to create a compelling drama series is awesome.”
Noelle Wolf added, “We were intrigued by the synergistic potential that Zayn brings to the project.”
As we all know, Zayn got his start while competing on The X Factor UK when the boys were grouped together to form a boy band on the show and One Direction was born. They went on to massive success and then Zayn shocked the world in 2015 when he announced he was leaving the group to pursue a solo career. He released Mind of Mine earlier this year, which debuted at No.1 on the Billboard 200 and remains the highest charting debut album of 2016.
