On last night’s episode of Part 1 of the finale of Bachelor in Paradise 2016, several contestants were eliminated at the Rose Ceremony as Shushanna decided to leave when she felt Wells didn’t fight for her. Wells chose Ashley I. over Jami, but broke up with her before the final date and Fantasy Suite since he wasn’t sure where things were going. Izzy left and called Vinny in the car, feeling she had made a huge mistake in letting him go. He turned her away, as her rejection took away all his feelings for her. Brett didn’t feel a real connection, so he didn’t hand out his rose, which left Lauren and Tiara, the chicken lady, going home, too.

Carly and Evan are in robes after their Fantasy Suite night. Kissing and laughing, they seem pretty right for each other. Then there are Grant and Lace, talking in bed. Grant really loves Lace, but there are doubts because they haven’t had enough time to talk about a lot of things. Lace ends up crying–so why did they get tattoos, she wonders. She’s afraid that if they don’t get engaged, their relationship won’t make it. Funny that Grant is the confused one now, and leaves the room to go sit by himself outside.
Nick and Jen are having breakfast in bed. Jen is feeling close to Nick and feeling a proposal coming. Nick loves being around Jen; they might be the “next Jade and Tanner.” And what about Josh and Amanda. They’re all lovey-dovey sitting in bed, reminiscing on their fun date. Amanda has never felt so happy, and she’s not worried about him meeting her daughters. Josh loves Amanda, but he’s been down this road before, and in this case, he wants to consider the effect on Amanda’s kids. He’s not sure what will happen.
A nervous Even goes to see Neil, the ring guy. He never thought he’d get married again. Grant, too, is nervous, and isn’t sure that he’s ready for a proposal. Then there’s Nick. Neil asks how many times he’s going to see him again. ha! Nick isn’t sure, either, as he doesn’t know 100% if this relationship is the right one. Then Neil gets to see Josh again. Josh wants to spend his life with Amanda, but he’s cautious with the children involved. He’s nervous.
Evan & Carly
Carly reflects on her strange journey with Evan and how it all finally clicked. She trusts Evan, and can’t picture her life without him, but she’s nervous as she walks down the beach to meet him. Even reflects on their “twists and turns” and how the visit to the hospital was the highlight. He points out how unique they are, then gets tearful as he talks about his love for her and how she makes him feel. He wants his kids to see their love. He wants the fairy tale with her! Carly tells Evan how he makes her want to be fearless, like he was when going after her. Now they are both in tears. Evan pulls out the ring. “Will you freakin’ marry me?” he asks. Of course! Aw, what a cute couple. Who would have predicted these two?
Carly and Evan both talk to the camera about how they are loved for who they are with each other. Evan’s “weirdness” is embraced by Carly. Time to go home and meet Evan’s kids. “And they all lived happily EVAN after,” says Carly, as they drive off into the sunset and away from Bachelor in Paradise 2016.
Grant & Lace
Lace is super nervous as she makes her way down to meet Grant on the beach. She’ll be heart-broken if he doesn’t propose, and she shares her fears with Chris Harrison before heading down. She’s so nervous she tells Grant she wants to throw up. Lace wants Grant to know how she feels, though. She points out all the great qualities about Grant and how he keeps running after her when she puts up walls. She thanks him for every moment they’ve had together. She tells Grant that she loves him, but she loves “Grace” (Grant + Lace) more. Awwwww. Grant says some things aren’t answered, but time will bring answers. His life has never been boring with her, and he can be himself. He loves her when she’s happy, sad, or screaming. Lace is thrilled–and tearful–when he gets down on one knee. Yay for Grace!
Nick & Jen
Jen realizes that Nick’s heart has been broken twice on The Bachelorette, but she feels good about their relationship, and she’s ready to take the next step with Nick. Jen tells Nick that her connection with him was immediate, and she has fallen in love with him. Nick breaks into tears, but can’t speak. Then he talks about how he wanted to leave Bachelor in Paradise Season 3 until Jen showed up. He feels like a better person now. He wants to be able to say he’s in love with Jen, but there’s something in his heart that won’t let him. He continues to cry, saying that something is telling him to say goodbye to her. He fears he might regret it, but she deserves better. They cry and hug several times as Nick walks with her to the car. She tells him she doesn’t want to say goodbye. In the vehicle, Jen doesn’t understand why Nick gave up a relationship that could have been great. She already misses him. Nick leaves in a separate vehicle. He admits feeling close to Jen, so maybe something is wrong with him, he muses. He does have a wall up and can’t say “I love you” to anyone. He says his “heart is in knots” and he needs to figure out “how to untie it.” Awwww.
Josh & Amanda
Amanda is confident in her feelings for Josh, and has never seen a future with anyone like she does with him. She shares her knots in the stomach with Chris Harrison before heading down to the beach. Josh had reservations the last time he proposed (to Andi Dorfman), and he doesn’t want to make the same mistake. Amanda tells Josh that she didn’t know this kind of love existed, and it only took her one date to realize how she felt about Josh. She wants to include him in her family with her daughters and knows they will love him. Amanda is ready to have a life with Josh. Josh admits he was scared coming in. She’s the sweetest, kindest, etc. . . . woman that he has ever met. Now he knows what true love is. Big boy Josh is crying now. He says he will love her kids as much as he loves her. And then the proposal. And it ends with some kissing and Josh moaning, of course.
Aw, I enjoyed the happy endings! Three out of four ain’t bad. Do you think they will make it? Will they all be the next Jade and Tanner?
