Jason DiLaurentis returns on Pretty Little Liars season 7 episode 7. For a refresher on what happened last week, read my recap of episode 6.
Pretty Little Liars season 7 episode 7 opens with Aria Montgomery, Spencer Hastings, Hanna Marin, Emily Fields and Alison DiLaurentis having dinner at The Radley. Spencer surprises all of her friends with matching friendship necklaces.
When the police enter, the girls worry what they’re there for. Emily listens in on a conversation, then reports back that Sara Harvey is dead.
Jenna Marshall cries after learning about Sara’s death. The Liars don’t buy it. Emily says, “Look at that. Pretending to be Sara’s best friend.”
When Jason comes home, he tells Mary Drake that he has a court order declaring himself as Alison’s primary caretaker. He tells Mary to get off his property.
While Mary is packing, Alison tells Jason that he hasn’t even met Mary yet. Jason reminds her that she worked with Elliot Rollins to have Alison institutionalized.
At work, Emily brings a drink to a customer. It’s revealed to be Noel Kahn, who tells her, “I always knew you’d never get out of Rosewood.”
Aria gets coffee with Jason. She tells him that she’s engaged to Ezra Fitz. She asks, “You haven’t told anyone about us, have you?” Jason says that he hasn’t and the should keep it their secret.
Hanna and Spencer sneak into Jenna’s apartment. While they’re there, Noel walks in. They hide under the bed. Noah makes a phone call. He says, “I’m calling again for Dr. Cochran. Tell her I’m running out of patience.” He hangs up and leaves.
Pam Fields comes to The Radley to have dinner with Emily while she’s on break. Emily gets a text from Spencer that says, “Noel broke into Toby’s Airstream to steal Mary’s file.”
After Yvonne Phillips is hospitalized, Spencer tells Toby Cavanaugh that he and Yvonne should leave town. She tells him, “No one’s ever really safe in Rosewood.”
During Emily and Pam’s dinner, they’re distracted by a noisy bridal party. The party sends Emily and Pam drinks to apologize for all the noise.
Jason invites Aria to have dinner with his family. While Mary is in the kitchen, Aria tries to help Jason convince Alison not to trust Mary.
Mary returns from the kitchen and tells the group that she made beef wellington. Jason says that this was his mom’s specialty and claims that Mary is trying to manipulate Alison by taking on the role of their mom.
A flashback shows the time that Jason tried to stay at his aunt Caorl‘s house and Jessica wouldn’t let him inside. It turns out that Mary Drake was inside. Mary peeks out the window, but Jason doesn’t see her. After she sends Jason away, Jessica talks to Mary, who thinks that her child is dead. The hashtag #EvilTwin appears on screen during this scene.
Aria shows up at The Radley and tells Emily that Mary mentioned Jessica using aunt Carol’s cellar as a hideout. Emily tells her, “I used to hide in my closet. And?” Aria tells her that they should check out the cellar, but then adds that she planned to elope. She wonders if she should stay to support the other Liars. Emily says that in twenty years she won’t remember the night she broke into a cellar, she’ll remember when she became Ezra’s wife. She tells Aria, “Go get hitched!”
While Caleb tries to recover the missing file, Caleb and Hanna have a talk. She tells him that she broke up with Jordan Hobart and that she thought he should know. She asks him, “Are we still friends?” He replies, “Always.”
Pam tells Emily that she ended up making friends with the woman in the bridal party and she had a blast. She thanks Emily for the fun night and they dance together.
Toby visits Spencer’s house to talk to her. He tells her that when he started building that house it wasn’t for Yvonne, it was for Spencer. However, when he found out that she was heading to the hospital, he realized he couldn’t imagine his life without Yvonne. He tells Spencer that he’s decided to move with to Maine with Yvonne to start their family. He tells her, “See you.” After Toby leaves and she’s alone, Spencer starts to sob.
Emily, Hanna, Spencer and Alison go to Alison’s aunt’s house to see if Jessica kept anything in her cellar. Hanna says, “There’s nothing here.” Emily tells her, “Cellars are below ground.”
Aria and Ezra are packing their bags to elope when two FBI agents knock on Ezra’s door. Unfortunately, they’re not there to arrest Ezra. They tell him they have reason to think that Nicole Gordon may still be alive.
The others girls discover that Jessica had files on all of them– except for Aria, who doesn’t have a file. Hanna looks at her own file and says, “Damn, my hair looked good.” They also find a file on Mary Drake, which says that she gave birth to another child after Charlotte DiLaurentis. Spencer says, “So, Charlotte had a biological brother or sister?” Emily adds, “Who might want revenge.” Hanna tells Alison, “Well, that’s great. Now you have another cousin who wants to kill us.”
When her car alarm starts to go off and Spencer discovers the keys are gone, Spencer tells the other girls to get in the car. After they close the doors, the doors suddenly lock. The car displays a countdown. After it reaches zero, the cellar nearby explodes. Someone coms up behind them and writes in the dirt on the window. The writing spells out, “I see you.” This is exactly the message that Noel wrote on the back of Ezra’s car in season one.
At the end of the episode, a gloved figure takes out Aria’s file. Then they take out a file on Noel and throw it in the trash.
