Episode 17 of Tyler Perry’s series The Haves and the Have Nots was another good one! We get to see the aftermath of the “accident,” watch plans for revenge be made, and watch another character snap! And while all of that is going on, we may possibly learn something new about one of our HAHN families – could the Cryer kids have been….murdered?
Hope you caught last week’s HAHN episode! The Haves and the Have Nots 2016 Recap: S4 E16 – The Heart of a Man.
The Haves and the Haves Nots picks back up with Veronica Harrington sitting there in shock after just being stabbed by Jeffrey Harrington, who just looks at her with anger/satisfaction and leaves the house like a G! Veronica is just in pure shock and Katheryn Cryer asks Hanna Young to call the ambulance – Hanna decided to take her sweet and precious time picking up the phone and calling! Hanna said, “We need an ambulance – somebody had….an accident.” When Veronica heard that, she was like, “My son stabbed me! Jeffrey Harrington – he’s 6’1, 178 pounds, black male!” Hanna walked out the room so they wouldn’t hear her. Too funny.
Then we see Jim Cryer and David Harrington in the interrogation room. Jim asks David to go asks Jennifer Sallison if she can come see him so we can talk about this and go identify his son at the morgue – “then come back and tell me that this is not real.”
Meanwhile, Jeffrey has arrived at the hotel, in an almost intoxicated state because he’s having flashbacks – being beat up by Quincy, Veronica getting mad at him for being gay, Landon saying that everyone in the town is crazy, Melissa telling him that she’s not getting an abortion. Everything is coming back to haunt him and he’s losing it. So once he gets in his room, he calls Candice Young and tells her about what happened. Candice was like, “Well is she dead? You need to find out, so we know what we’re working with here (remember they’re still trying to figure out how she knows about him killing Quincy).” Jeffrey’s all panicked, because he knows that if she’s still alive, she’s going to turn them in. Candice is doing some other stuff, but tells him that she’ll be at the hotel to come see him in about an hour. After they get off the phone, Jeffrey calls the cop, whose name is Justin, who asleep is in bed with his wife. As soon as he asks him to come to the hotel, Justin slides out of bed and gets ready to be on his way. His wife stirred and was like, “Where you going?” He said, “I have to go investigate a homicide.” Even though it’s his night off, she takes that story and goes back to sleep.
David arrives at Jennifer’s office to confront her about the whole situation. He’s like, “You really need to drop the whole case,” and she said no. Basically, she told him that he doesn’t know Jim as well as he thinks he does and he needs to be careful. But she also brought up Maggie Day: “You know Maggie is going to have a state funeral – are you going to go to the service?” When David said no, she said, “Why not? She got further with you than I did.” What happened between these two?? She keeps bringing up how she didn’t get anywhere with him – what the heck?!
Then she says this: “Look at the photo from Amanda Cryer’s room. Anything look odd to you? How did the blood splatter the way it did if it was a suicide? The first detective called it right and ruled it a homicide, but another detective came in an overruled it, thus calling it a suicide. And guess what? The second detective was a friend of the Cryers!”
Then we see this scene where Benny Young and Mitch are sitting outside the campaign headquarters, talking about how David still hasn’t turned their phones on. Mitch is like, “You need to get him back. He hit your where it hurts – your pockets, so you need to hit him where it hurts.” Benny said, “I mean, I’ve already slept with his wife,so…” Mitch says, “Well, if his son if his weakness….why don’t we pay him a visit?” Poor Jeffrey can’t catch a break!
Justin finally makes it to the hotel room, where Jeffrey is frantic. First, Jeffrey says, “Am I talking to the cop or the man that I handcuffed in bed?” That was really weird to me – why’d you have to say it like that? You could have just said “My friend.” Come on, Jeff!
Anyway, Jeffrey tells him that he stabbed his mama and his best friend is dead, and he just starts crying. The cops calls in to dispatch (which scared Jeffrey half to death) and asks if there are any warrants on him – the dispatch says no, so Jeffrey’s in the clear still.
David finally gets to the hotel room, where he goes to identify Wyatt Cryer’s body. They ruled out foul play, so he was clear to check things out. David tells them to flip the body over – when he saw Wyatt, he broke down. He lifts his head up and touches his chest in disbelief…..David says, “He’s still warm!”
….So you mean to tell me that this man has been laying slouched over the bed all season, and he’s still alive???!!
Then we return to the Cryer house, where the ambulance still hasn’t arrived. Veronica was like, “You’re enjoying watching me die. Hanna, you didn’t call the ambulance. Katheryn, call!” Katheryn called again to confirm that Hanna called so she could calm down. Finally the people come to check her out. The man was like, “You’re fine – you were just stabbed in your implant.” What? Veronica was like, “I don’t have an implant!” The guy was like, “….okay. Whatever.” Then the female paramedic said, “We need to take you to the hospital, can you stand up and walk?” Veronica said, “I have a knife in my chest – does it look like I can walk?” The woman reached over, grabbed the knife (that Veronica said was 6 inches – Hanna corrected her and said it was only and inch or 2), and pulled it out. Then she said, “Can you walk now?” Too funny! Veronica got up and walked to with paramedics, super dramatic – “Katheryn, can you get my purse?” Hanna was killing herself laughing. When Katheryn came back in, Hanna was still laughing and apologizing. At that point, I was laughing too. But Katheryn said something that brought the vibe right back down: “My son is still dead,” and walked up to her room. Made me and Hanna feel bad.
So Hanna goes to leave. As she’s leaving, she gets a call from Benny, who is trying to find out about the stabbing (Candice called him and asked to find out). She has to get off the phone really quick, because a police car pulls up behind her car. Hanna gets out, thinking that they’re here because of the stabbing. She’s like, “They’ve already taken her to the hospital and she’s fine.” Jennifer looks at her like, “What? No, we need to talk to Katheryn right now.”
As that’s happening, Candice calls Jeffrey: “Hey, I’m on my way to the hotel.” Jeffrey said, “I’m not at the hotel. I’m with Officer Justin.” Candice said, “Okay….where are y’all at?”
“In your backyard.”
So Candice speeds off to her house to figure out what’s happening.
