With all the crazy antics Miley Cyrus does, we often forget that she did start out as a singer and to remind us of that she released a Miley Cyrus video of her covering Dolly Parton’s hit song “Jolene.” You can check out Miley Cyrus cover Dolly Parton below, but believe me, it is kind of good. I am a sucker for a good Miley Cyrus song and the girl does have a voice on her. How many time have you shed a little tear when you hear her sing “The Climb?” I’ll admit a few times for me!
The Miley Cyrus “Jolene” cover was recorded last summer, hence why she has all that hair still on her head, for “Backyard Sessions.” The show featured Miley and her band, where else, but in her backyard singing some of her favorite songs, which not only included “Jolene,” but also James Shelton’s “Lilac Wine” and “You’re Gonna Make Me Lonesome When You Go” by Bob Dylan. Just a little fun tidbit of information, but Dolly Parton happens to be the godmother of Miley Cyrus, so she does her godmother proud in the cover below!
All the covers sounds amazingly well, so it has people pumped for Miley’s new album, which is being produced by Pharrell Williams. As far as the new album goes, he told MTV recently that is sounds like nothing she has ever done before: “Her sound right now is her personality. That’s what we’ve been aiming for in the studio and that’s what’s been coming out and that’s what’s been sounding so interesting. Her voice is a very powerful one — you just have to hear it to know that and to understand it. It’s nowhere near what it is that you think.”
