Adam Lambert Returns to American Idol as Mentor
American Idol sensation Adam Lambert has announced he will return to the show next week as a guest mentor for the current crop of contestants. Lambert will also perform his single “Whataya Want from Me” on the results show on Wednesday.
“It’s true!” Lambert told fans in a post on his Twitter page on Tuesday. “In addition to performing on Idol April 14th, I will be mentoring the top 8 on the 13th. I feel honored to be asked.”
Although Adam Lambert is barely out of his own American Idol experience, he feels confident he can serve as a good mentor on the show. “Even though I’m just at the start of my recording career, I hope to lend some insight as one who’s been thru the Idol adventure.”
Lambert also assured fans his performance on American Idol would be strictly PG-rated, alluding to the controversy over his racy American Music Awards appearance last November. “I will be beyond family friendly,” Lambert said. “Relax and enjoy.”
You can be sure we will Adam!

I think it is great. Maybe he can get the new kids to stop just standing there, BORING>
We love Adam, he is a true entertainer. One would not guess that he is such a truely nice person and very spiritual when you see some of his performaces. He is here for our entertainment and he is doing a wonderful job. Really looking forward to next week.
I had quit watching Idol a couple of weeks ago, when I heard Adam was going to be on next week I got so excited I canceled my meetings on the evening of 13 and 14th just so I can watch. Soooo excited!
Honestly, nothing can save the trainwreck that is American Idol but at least Adam Lambert mentoring these sadly very dull and mediocre kids is something to look foreward to.
Adam Lambert brings his immense talent as a singer and performer and years of stage experience (“Wicked” and several other musicals prior ot AI) to the table plus first-hand knowledge of how to bend the Idol machine to his will – and this sason’s contestants sure need any help they can get!!!
Love Adam Lambert or hate him but of all former AI contestants he’s the only one who generates the kind of buzz and media attention this show so desperately needs right now.
The media is gaga over Adam Lambert, every time he so much as breathes it’s in the news and every little tidbit about him on the net gets hundreds of hits and comments by fans and haters alike… peope just can’t seem to stop talking about him…
(Honesly, how Lambert manages to stay sane in the centre of all this attention and scrutiny is beyond me).
Already this story is all over the internet, too, and everyone and their grandmothers are blogging about it. Hell, even CNN reported Lambert coming back to American Idol!
So even if this year’s contestants might just be beyond help at least we get another “What is Adam Lambert going to do?”- moment that for once will make watching American Ido fun again…
“So” excited – see, I am so happy I can’t even spell. LOL
Sp excited for this – I love Adam!
