Tonight’s episode of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit season 17 started off with a young woman going in for a photo shoot and while she is changing, the photographer comes in to introduce himself. While he is taking her picture, he starts grabbing at her clothes and she freaks out a bit. He calls for his assistant to “make her chill” and then we see his assistant taking pictures of him raping her. After she was done taking the pictures, he took his camera back and the model tells the assistant, Nora, that she didn’t want him to do that. His assistant told her that wasn’t what the camera said.
Benson, Rollins and Carisi get a call while they are out with Benson and Rollins’ kids about the young girl, she is only 17 years old. When they get to the hospital, she tells them that she isn’t sure she wants to press charges and that if her boyfriend finds out she was there he would kill her. The photographer, Alvin, is pretty big in the industry and she doesn’t want to ruin her chances at being a model someday.
The next day when the victim, Sally, comes in to give her statement, she brings her boyfriend and manager, Matt in with her. Fin and Carisi talk to Matt and Benson and Rollins talk to Sally, while talking to the boyfriend, he tells Fin and Carisi that if they don’t get him, he will. Sally is telling Benson and Rollins that Nora kept giving her drinks and while he was raping Sally, Nora was taking pictures of the whole thing.
Benson sets up a meeting between Sally and Nora and they get enough information out of Nora to get a search warrant for Alvin’s studio. They are in the middle of a session and his brother, who is a fashion designers, is there as well. When Fin goes to take the camera out of Alvin’s hand, which is on the list of searchable items, he resists and they arrest him. Carisi and Fin get him into an interview room and he tells them that Matt went to him in a bar and showed him her headshots and set up the shoot. She knew the kind of work he did and she went to the shoot alone. Nora admits to giving her drinks and while she is talking to Rollins, Benson comes in and places her under arrest for facilitating Sally’s assault.
When they go to arraignment, Alvin is let out on bail as long as he surrenders his passport and when it’s Nora is up, him and everyone who works for him, leaves her alone. They tried to get Nora to flip on him. Meanwhile, they start looking into the other girls that Alvin has taken pictures of and they also have to look into a victim from 12 years ago. Munch comes in to help with this case, because he worked on the original case. Munch is able to find her and him and Fin go to talk to her. No one is willing to testify against Alvin because it would ruin their career, the only one they have is Sally.
Rollins and Carisi go to talk to her and prep her for her testimony, when Matt gets home, he is clearly upset about Carisi being there. When Rollins tells him that they are there to go over her testimony, he tells her “oh, ok, I didn’t see you there.” It was like he thought that Carisi was coming onto Sally or something. The next day, Benson, Rollins and Barba are waiting for Sally to get there and when she walks up with Matt, Benson goes to walk her in. Matt won’t let go of her arm and he gives her a look. That’s when Sally changes her mind about testifying against Alvin.
Barba tries to get a continuance, but he can’t get one and Rollins asks if anyone really thinks that she made the decision on her own. Carisi and Sgt. Dodds goes to talk to Alvin and his brother and they find out that Matt went there with a gun and threatened them. They gave him $50,000 in exchange for him to consult and that means that she can’t testify because it would ruin their deal. When Rollins goes to talk to Sally and Matt, they get a call that Sally is the closing model for Alvin’s show. They find out that Nora isn’t booking the models for his shows anymore.
They go to the show to find Sally, Alvin and Alvin’s sister in law, Claire. Matt is outside when they got there and he is being told he can’t go in and when the team gets through the door, he calls for them to get Alvin out there right away and that he wants to talk to him right now. They can’t find him or Sally in the entire place. When they go backstage to look around some more, they hear a scream from the back alley, it’s one of the girls that works for Alvin. Alvin is laying on the ground and it appears that he has been shot or stabbed. He is dead.
Claire and Alvin’s brother think that it was Matt and Rollins is talking to Sally and ask her to call him and find out where he is. She looks worried about calling him, but she does and when they are talking to him, he tells him that he didn’t even have his gun on him. Rollins and Carisi find his gun and it isn’t operable and Sally is freaked out because of what Matt is going to do if he finds out it was her that lead them to him.
Back at the precinct, they find the security footage of the alley and they don’t see the shooter, they just know that it’s someone Alvin knew because he was smiling at them. They also found Alvin’s gun, a .357 magnum on the roof of a building nearby. They think that it was Alvin’s brother because he was sick of cleaning up Alvin’s messes, but I think it’s Alvin’s sister in law, Claire, because she was sick of him having sex all the models.
Benson calls Claire and Alvin’s brother in to ask them about timeline. When they find out that Matt isn’t the shooter, they also tell them that whoever shot Alvin would have left gun shot residue on Sally’s dress. They both confess to killing Alvin, but they tested the dress for gunshot residue and find that the brother was the one who really shot Alvin. Benson gets home and Munch is there watching Noah for her. He tells her that they had a great time with him today and then he leaves and tells them to take care of each other.
